When I joined Grant Thornton as an intern, I expected to gain experience and build my resume. What I didn’t expect was finding a place where I’d want to grow my entire career. Twelve years later, I’m still here because of the genuine connections I’ve made, the mentors and mentees who have shaped my path and new opportunities to grow.

I found my champions

When I returned as a full-time hire, a partner remembered me from the brief time we overlapped during my internship — and made a point to welcome me back. Relationships like these have led to opportunities like being named to the Diversity Woman Magazine’s Power 100 list and being encouraged to be a leader and mentor for Empower students and in our Black Professionals & Allies business resource group

I thrive with team players

What always impressed me is how everyone pitches in, regardless of their title. I’ve seen this firsthand on engagements where our team needed to be more agile to meet project objectives. Instead of sticking to strict role boundaries, we all adapted — taking on both higher- and lower-level tasks to get the job done right. This collaborative spirit has earned us positive client feedback and built lasting trust among teammates.

I shape my own journey

I’ve been encouraged to pursue projects that spark my interest, even beyond the industries I specialize in. From raising my hand for proposals to building client relationships at our Houston office events, I’ve grown beyond traditional audit work. In a professional services environment, colleagues with diverse expertise give me a broader business perspective and keep every day interesting.
