Family has always been my No. 1 priority. Born in Saudi Arabia, I moved to Chicago right before enrolling in college. Having older parents and tons of family around, I needed a career where I could balance all my family responsibilities. Today, as a parent of three, having that work-life balance is more important than ever. Early on in my career, I felt overwhelmed by the long, late hours that most professional services firms required — but 12 years ago, I found something different at Grant Thornton, and I’ve been here ever since. And now, it's my mission to ensure my team has the best work-life balance and experience because I consider them my family, too.
I work to enjoy life
As a parent who loves to travel, our hybrid work environment is a huge benefit to me. My team and I have a shared understanding that my schedule is flexible depending on what I need to take care of for my family and whether we’re traveling. It’s important for me to not only find that balance for myself, but also to set an example for my teammates, emphasizing that living life outside of work should be a priority.

I’m breaking new ground
Moving to the U.S. right before college, I had no idea where my career would take me. Now having worked my way up to senior manager in a role that incorporates my global background, I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. One aspect I appreciate most about my job is working with clients from all around the world while improving my international tax knowledge.
I feel at home
As an immigrant from a predominantly Muslim country, I always sensed a need for understanding of Islam and the Islamic culture. I’m proud Grant Thornton raises awareness for topics surrounding Islamophobia in the workplace and encourages everyone to bring their own selves. As a mentor, it’s important to make sure my peers and new team members have a sense of belonging in the workplace.

working out, particularly bodybuilding. I’ve competed in two bodybuilding competitions so far and am planning for another at the end of the year.
